Job Summary
Enforce Clubhouse rules and safety practices while supervising aquatics programming for youth ages 6-18. Develop and implement instructional and drop-in swim activities, while encouraging leadership and sportsmanship among members. Maintain the pool facility and equipment by submitting work orders to maintenance and keeping the department within budget parameters. Provide daily attendance and operational reports to staff, perform close-out procedures, and execute lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR/AED protocols. Work part-time hours Monday through Friday in afternoon and evening shifts at the Thomas S. Murphy Clubhouse in Brooklyn, NY.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds, ages 6-18 as well as a range of other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional manner
- Highly motivated and dedicated to the organizational mission
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven track record of engaging youth in a responsible and mature manner
- Experience with aquatics programming
- High school diploma
- Certified lifeguard license
- WSI certificate
- Ability to lift a person off the bottom and out of the water
- Perform all skills required for Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time in outside air temperatures and conditions
- Comfortable in the water
- Occasional weekend work
- Local travel
- Occasional overnight travel
