Job Summary
Conduct safe, reliable transportation for children enrolled in the YMCA's after-school program by following established routes and adhering to all traffic laws and state licensing requirements. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring vehicles are clean, safe, and properly fueled. Maintain accurate documentation including attendance rosters, inspection logs, and incident reports while completing required headcounts to ensure children are safely accounted for. Establish positive relationships with school personnel, parents, and staff while enforcing behavior expectations and responding to emergencies. Communicate delays, route changes, and attendance concerns promptly to leadership. Assist with supervision during transitions and attend required trainings to maintain certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age requirement – 21 years of age
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Previous experience working with children
- CPR, First Aid, & AED certifications
- Complete YMCA of the USA New Employee Orientation e-learning course
- Complete YMCA Policy and Procedures for New Employees
- Begin state-mandated child care classes
- Complete state-mandated child care classes within one year
- Ability to safely operate a YMCA vehicle for extended periods
- Ability to assist children with boarding and exiting the vehicle
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions
Desired Qualifications
- one year or more of college
- Previous experience with diverse populations
- the ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate program activities
