Job Summary
Implement the visual arts curriculum, including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and multi-media, while assisting with course development and creating lesson plans with teaching assistants. Lead classes with elementary school children from 2:30pm to 5:00PM, supervising students during transitions and managing teaching assistants. Request supplies from the Site Supervisor in advance and communicate regularly about student progress. Plan and oversee culminating events at the end of each cycle. Maintain a patient, kind, and friendly demeanor while exercising strong leadership skills to manage conduct and performance. Prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment using initiative and sound judgment.
Required Qualifications
- Subject-matter expertise in a field consistent with the subject taught
- Patient, kind and friendly
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and correct conduct and performance of adults and children
- Able to manage and give priority to multiple tasks
- Exhibits creativity and innovativeness working in a fast-paced environment
- Able to use own initiative, sound judgment, tact and diplomacy
Desired Qualifications
- University degree (preferred)
