Job Summary
As an After School Teacher/Facilitator at Belvedere Elementary (Omaha, NE), you will implement established curriculum, supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities, build a sense of achievement and belonging, communicate with parents, maintain program records, and participate in department and branch trainings. You will collaborate with YMCA staff to nurture positive relationships, support volunteers, assist with fundraising, and help ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment during evening and weekend hours. The role emphasizes classroom management, ADA accommodations when appropriate, and active participation in community-oriented youth development within a YMCA setting.
Required Qualifications
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state licensing regulations
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
- Complete before first shift: YMCA cause & culture training; curriculum training; all required abuse prevention trainings
- Complete within 30 days of hire: BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration (provided by YMCA)
- Ability to relate effectively to and develop meaningful relationships with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community, including ADA compliance
- Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training
- Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities
