Job Summary
Lead after-school cooking and STEAM classes for elementary students (K-4) while teaching lesson plans on nutrition, healthy eating, and basic science concepts. Introduce kids to cutting, measuring, food safety, and table manners, then purchase groceries for each session based on provided recipes. Maintain classroom management and student engagement during one-hour sessions held Monday through Friday between 2-5pm at Salisbury Central School. Classes run once daily with a maximum of five per week, paid at $80 per class. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess reliable transportation to travel to assigned program locations.
Required Qualifications
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire
- Ability to stand and move throughout a classroom setting during program instruction
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and kneel as needed during program setup, instruction, and cleanup
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, and transport program materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to load and unload program supplies from a vehicle, as applicable
- Ability to travel to assigned program locations
- Experience working with large group of kids
- Enthusiastic about teaching, cooking and nutrition
- Effective classroom management skills
- Energetic personality and ability to keep students engaged during the class
- Punctuality and reliability, with access to a reliable form of transportation
