Job Summary
Plan and implement academic, enrichment, health, and recreational learning experiences for students. Assist with tutoring in reading, writing, math, and other subjects while monitoring student behavior and acting as a role model. Mentor students in learning and life experiences, mediate interpersonal conflicts, and administer first aid or basic nursing care as needed. Support students with toileting and changing, implement behavior support plans, and gather achievement data for program evaluation. Participate in staff training and serve as a mandated reporter for student injuries and incidents. Work Monday through Friday from 2:00pm to 5:30pm.
Required Qualifications
- An earned high school diploma
- At least three to six months of experience working with children of varying ages, needs, abilities, and backgrounds
- School-based experience preferred
- Child and youth learning activities such as academic achievement; educational enrichment; visual/performing arts; health/nutrition/technology; sports/recreation; and cultural groups and events
- Techniques and methods of student supervision and behavior management
- Cultural and physical differences and needs of children in assigned activities
- Basic computer and technology applications
- English usage, spelling, and writing
- Work effectively with students of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds
- Establish and maintain effective working relations with program and school personnel
- Learn basic first aid and safety requirements
- Communicate effectively in oral and written expression
- Physically perform job tasks
- Follow directions and function within program policies and procedures
- Continual speaking, hearing, seeing, walking, and standing (67% - 100% of shift)
- Frequent sitting, reaching, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, and grasping (34% - 66% of shift)
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of weight up to 50 pounds (11%-33% of shift)
- Seldom running (1%-10% of shift)
- Monday-Friday, 2:00pm - 5:30pm
