Job Summary
The After School Rec (ASR) Site Coordinator oversees daily operations and onsite leadership at an assigned ASR location, ensuring program quality and a safe, positive environment for Grades K–4. Acts as the main point of contact for families and staff during programming, leads activities as needed, manages materials and supplies, supervises ASR Counselors, coordinates staff schedules, and supports onboarding and training to implement program policies. Works with Park District departments and NSSRA inclusion partnerships, maintains health/safety records, and upholds safety and risk-management practices during after-school programming. This is a part-time position (PT2) with afternoon/program hours aligned to the school calendar.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old by start date
- Prior experience working with children in a recreational or educational setting
- Leadership experience or demonstrated initiative in a team setting is strongly preferred
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle unexpected situations
- Capable of multitasking and prioritizing in a dynamic environment
- Positive, energetic, and supportive with children, staff, and families
- Familiarity with inclusive practices and adaptive programming
- CPR/First Aid certificates within three months of hiring, provided by the Park District
- Annual mandated trainings (Sexual Harassment Training annually and Mandated Reporter training every three years)
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Work environment indoors with varying noise levels
- Follows the school calendar and specific after-school hours
- Experience with timekeeping software
- On-site emergency contact duties
