Job Summary
After School Rec Counselor for Wilmette Park District: provide a safe, engaging after-school environment for school-age children (Kindergarten through 4th grade). Lead crafts, games, enrichment activities, assist with homework, supervise during free play and transitions, maintain attendance with parents/guardians at pick-up, and support positive peer interactions. Requires energy, creativity, teamwork, and a passion for working with kids in an after-school recreational setting. PT2 position with afternoon hours (e.g., 3:00–6:00 PM weekdays; some Fridays 2:00–6:00 PM) aligned with District 39 calendar;遵守 safety protocols and attend required trainings.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- CPR/First Aid certificates obtained within three months of hiring, provided by the Park District, preferred
- Complete annual District trainings, including, but not limited to, Sexual Harassment Training, Avoiding Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens annually and Mandated Reporter training every three years.
- Ability to engage with children in a warm, supportive, and structured manner
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Dependability, flexibility, and a team-player attitude
- Ability to lead or assist with games, group activities, and small projects
- Clear decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Positive energy, initiative, and a genuine interest in working with children
