Job Summary
Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning, social development, and creativity for school-age children. Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging environment by supervising children at all times while ensuring compliance with state licensing rules and health standards. Actively engage with children through play and conversation, support positive behavior guidance, and organize materials and transitions between activities. Document attendance and incidents as directed and communicate professionally with families and coworkers. Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions while modeling Vermont Hills Family Life Center values. Must be at least 18 years old, meet initial training requirements, and possess the physical ability to lift 40 pounds and move quickly for supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must meet the initial training requirements as established by the State of Oregon and VHFLC policy, including Orientation and Initial Training
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children in a group setting
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to follow direction and collaborate as part of a team
- Understanding of basic principles of child development and positive guidance
- Ability to maintain professionalism, dependability, and confidentiality
- Commitment to supporting a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment for children
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to bend
- Ability to kneel
- Ability to sit on the floor
- Ability to move quickly as needed for supervision and safety
