Job Summary
Lead and assist in planning and implementing the daily after-school enrichment program for K-12 youth in South LA, under the supervision of the Program Coordinator. Create a safe, engaging environment that educates and inspires youth, maintain a 20:1 student ratio, collaborate with school staff and guardians, track attendance, supervise field trips, prepare supplies, ensure safety standards, and be available for evenings/weekends. Requires experience with youth, strong communication, teamwork, and ability to travel between sites; fingerprinting and TB clearance required.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with students in grades K-12 in recreational, educational and/or community youth outreach setting
- Ability to work cooperatively with School District staff, parents and community leaders
- Familiarity with quality criteria for after school programs
- Ability to communicate effectively and respond to incidents/emergencies
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must have obtained high school graduate or GED and have successfully passed ASAS-LA Instructional Aide exam, have an Associates Degree or higher, or have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education
- Criminal record clearance by fingerprinting
- Clearance of TB Test
- Physical ability to lead and participate in structured activities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in a language other than English highly desirable
