After-School Program Leader (Floater) – South LA

Job Summary

Foster a safe, supportive environment for groups of approximately 20 students by planning and leading age-appropriate activities that encourage creativity, play, and social-emotional learning. Monitor student attendance and participation to ensure consistent engagement while maintaining positive relationships with participants, families, and site staff. Collaborate with the Site Coordinator and Program Manager to plan culminating events, request materials within budget guidelines, and comply with safety protocols and emergency procedures. Participate in off-site field trips as needed and attend required professional development sessions totaling approximately 15 hours. Work Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM across multiple locations in South Los Angeles and San Pedro, reporting to a Site Coordinator.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
  • Willingness and ability to travel between assigned program sites as needed
  • Ability to successfully pass an assessment evaluating math, reading comprehension, and spelling skills
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
  • Frequent standing is required during working hours
  • Regular use of hands for various tasks, such as operating a computer and handling objects
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Child Development, Education, or a related field
  • Experience working in expanded learning programs, after-school programs, or youth recreation settings
  • Previous experience working with K-12 students in academic, recreational, or youth development settings
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and work with children and youth from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency and a willingness to learn new systems and technology
