Job Summary
Foster a safe, supportive environment while planning and leading age-appropriate activities that promote social-emotional learning, skill building, and leadership for groups of approximately 20 children. Monitor student attendance and participation to ensure consistent engagement, maintaining accurate daily records and complying with all safety protocols and emergency procedures. Build positive relationships with students, families, and stakeholders, and collaborate with the Site Coordinator and Program Manager to plan culminating events and fulfill assigned responsibilities. Participate in off-site field trips as needed and attend required professional development sessions totaling approximately 15 hours. Work Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM across multiple Los Angeles locations, including Echo Park, Pico Union, and Koreatown, with availability to travel between sites.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Availability to work Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
- Willingness and ability to travel between assigned program sites as needed
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Ability to successfully pass an assessment evaluating math, reading comprehension, and spelling skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Child Development, Education, or a related field
- Experience working in expanded learning programs, after-school programs, or youth recreation settings
- Previous experience working with K-12 students in academic, recreational, or youth development settings
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and work with children and youth from diverse backgrounds
- A willingness to learn new systems and technology
