Job Summary
Foster a safe, inclusive environment for groups of approximately 20 youth while planning and leading age-appropriate activities that support social-emotional learning, skill building, and leadership. Monitor student attendance and participation to ensure consistent engagement, then maintain accurate daily records. Collaborate with the Site Coordinator and Community & Family Liaison to build positive relationships with families and plan culminating events celebrating participants' achievements. Request program materials in a timely manner to adhere to budget guidelines and comply with all safety protocols and emergency procedures. Participate in off-site field trips as needed and attend required professional development totaling approximately 15 hours across weekends and intersession days. This role offers flexible support across multiple Los Angeles locations, with shifts varying by site and enrollment demand.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Availability to work Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
- Willingness and ability to travel between assigned program sites as needed
- Ability to successfully pass an assessment evaluating math, reading comprehension, and spelling skills
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Child Development, Education, or a related field
- Experience working in expanded learning programs, after-school programs, or youth recreation settings
- Previous experience working with K-12 students in academic, recreational, or youth development settings
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and work with children and youth from diverse backgrounds
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency and a willingness to learn new systems and technology
