Job Summary
Foster a safe, inclusive environment for groups of approximately 20 students by planning age-appropriate activities that support social-emotional learning, skill building, and leadership. Monitor attendance and participation to ensure consistent engagement, while maintaining positive relationships with students, families, and stakeholders. Collaborate with Site Coordinators and Community & Family Liaisons to plan culminating events and request program materials within budget guidelines. Comply with all safety procedures, emergency protocols, and required certifications. Maintain accurate daily student attendance records and attend approximately 15 hours of professional development. Work Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, traveling between assigned sites in Inglewood, Crenshaw, and Baldwin Hills as needed to address coverage gaps and fluctuating enrollment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Availability to work Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
- Willingness and ability to travel between assigned program sites as needed
- Ability to successfully pass an assessment evaluating math, reading comprehension, and spelling skills
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Child Development, Education, or a related field
- Experience working in expanded learning programs, after-school programs, or youth recreation settings
- Previous experience working with K-12 students in academic, recreational, or youth development settings
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and work with children and youth from diverse backgrounds
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency and a willingness to learn new systems and technology
