Job Summary
Create and submit lesson plans while leading homework help, enrichment, and physical education sessions for elementary students. Actively supervise students, ensure safe sign-in/out via software, and enforce activity rules across indoor and outdoor school spaces. Clean and organize classroom areas, support enrichment teachers, and transport students to the eating area for supper. Report serious behavioral issues or safety hazards to the after-school coordinator. This part-time, 10-month role supports the school's extended learning program, fostering a safe, inclusive environment aligned with the school's mission to empower students through arts and social justice.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of HS diploma
- Currently enrolled in a Community College or University
- Demonstrated successful experience working with elementary-age students
- Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with staff, students, and stakeholders
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately
- Ability to recognize areas of concern relating to student issues

- Strength and stamina to physically move desks, tables, and chairs to change the layout of rooms and offices to facilitate and influence school operations
- Continuous speaking and listening for extended periods to instruct students and participate in meetings
- Mental acuity to collect, evaluate, and interpret data; reason; define problems; establish facts; draw valid conclusions; and make effective judgments and decisions
- Observe, see, hear, and respond to students, parents, and staff
- Grasp and handle motions and torso rotations continuously and can reach in all directions, including overhead and horizontally
- Hear and speak to exchange accurate information in-person, virtually, over a two-way radio or telephone when the noise level range is low to loud
- Hear to locate the source of a sound
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members
- Vision to see near, distant, color, depth, peripherally, and adjust the focus with or without correction
- Possess dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment including radio, computer keyboard/mouse, and standard office equipment necessary to do job functions

- Stand and walk long distances around campus and/or on school field trips and events on concrete, asphalt, gravel, and uneven surfaces, and maneuver in tight spaces between classroom desks
- Bend at the waist, kneel, stoop, squat, reach, and crouch
- Stand for extended periods
