Job Summary
Lead and manage an ASAS-LA after-school site in Los Angeles to ensure a safe, dynamic program environment for youth; drive program attendance, initiative, and creative strategies to attract/retain participants; supervise and train staff and volunteers; collaborate with School District staff, parents, and community leaders; implement enrichment activities aligned with ASAS-LA mission; ensure health, safety, and emergency procedures are followed; manage program planning, communications with stakeholders, surveys/evaluations, and grant-related reporting; available to work evenings and weekends; travel to off-site meetings/trainings/events; requires valid transportation, background checks (DOJ/FBI Live Scan), and compliance with safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in leadership or supervisory capacity in an afterschool, day camp, or youth-based organization
- Ability to work cooperatively with School District staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents, and community leaders
- Familiarity with quality criteria for expanded learning programming is highly desirable
- Ability to develop and execute programs that accommodate diverse learning styles and interests
- Experience working in ethnic and culturally diverse communities is highly desirable
- Effective verbal and written communication in a team environment
- Respond to critical incidents promptly and act using ASAS-LA protocols
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Must have valid transportation
- Must clear Drug Test, Tuberculosis screening and DOJ/FBI Live Scan prior to hire
- Fluency in a language other than English is highly desirable
- Possess a High School or General Education Diploma (GED); a baccalaureate degree in education, social or human services, child development, recreation, or related field is desirable or equivalent work experience desirable
