Job Summary
Lead and manage the ASAS-LA after-school site to provide a safe, dynamic program environment for youth; supervise staff and volunteers; drive program attendance and engagement; develop and implement programming that supports diverse learning styles; collaborate with School District staff, public officials, and community partners; ensure safety, health, and compliance, including emergency response and reporting; oversee program planning, evaluation, and communications with stakeholders; require evenings and weekends, with travel to off-site meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working in a leadership or supervisory capacity in an afterschool, day camp, or youth-based organization.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with School District staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents, and community leaders.
- Familiarity with quality criteria for expanded learning programming is highly desirable.
- Ability to develop and execute programs that accommodate diverse learning styles and interests.
- Experience working in ethnic and culturally diverse communities is highly desirable
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written communication) effectively in a team environment.
- Respond to critical incidents and act promptly in an emergency situation. Respond promptly to any and all incidents, using ASAS-LA protocols.
- Excellent organizational and managerial skills. Strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability
- Must be proficient with computer software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite).
- Must have valid transportation.
- Must clear Drug Test, Tuberculosis screening and DOJ/FBI Live Scan prior to hire.
- Fluency in a language other than English is highly desirable.
- Must possess a High School or General Education Diploma (GED). A baccalaureate degree in education, social or human services, child development, recreation, or a related field is desirable, or equivalent work experience in education, youth development, and or human services desirable.
