Job Summary
Lead and manage the After-School All-Stars-LA site, ensuring a safe, dynamic environment that educates and inspires youth while driving attendance and developing creative retention strategies. Supervise all staff and volunteers, providing professional development, managing discipline, and fostering a collaborative team culture. Oversee daily programming operations, including session planning, curriculum development, and site visits, while acting as a liaison between the program and school district partners. Maintain accurate student registration in the CitySpan database, review sign-in sheets, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards through regular training and drills. Collaborate with stakeholders through weekly and quarterly meetings, conduct program evaluations, and manage payroll and supply inventory. Work Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6:30 PM, with availability for evenings and weekends as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working in a leadership or supervisory capacity in an afterschool, day camp, or youth-based organization
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with School District staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents, and community leaders
- Ability to develop and execute programs that accommodate diverse learning styles and interests
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written communication) effectively in a team environment
- Must be proficient with computer software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite)
- Must have valid transportation
- Must clear Drug Test, Tuberculosis screening and DOJ/FBI Live Scan prior to hire
- Must have obtained high school diploma or GED and either have successfully passed the ASAS-LA Instructional Aide exam, have an Associates Degree or higher, or have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education
- Available to work evenings and weekends
- Travel to off-site meetings, trainings, and events
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with quality criteria for expanded learning programming is highly desirable
- Experience working in ethnic and culturally diverse communities is highly desirable
- Fluency in a language other than English is highly desirable
- A baccalaureate degree in education, social or human services, child development, recreation, or a related field is desirable
- Equivalent work experience in education, youth development, and or human services desirable
