Job Summary
Lead and manage the ASAS-LA after-school site, supervising staff and volunteers while fostering a collaborative team culture through training and evaluation. Oversee daily programming operations, including safety compliance, emergency drills, and student registration in the CitySpan database. Drive attendance and retention strategies, manage payroll, and coordinate with school district staff to align out-of-school activities with core day efforts. Maintain open communication with stakeholders through weekly and quarterly meetings, ensuring all program initiatives and safety protocols are implemented effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working in a leadership or supervisory capacity in an afterschool, day camp, or youth-based organization
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with School District staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents, and community leaders
- Ability to develop and execute programs that accommodate diverse learning styles and interests
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written communication) effectively in a team environment
- Respond to critical incidents and act promptly in an emergency situation
- Respond promptly to any and all incidents, using ASAS-LA protocols
- Excellent organizational and managerial skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability
- Must be proficient with computer software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite)
- Must have valid transportation
- Must clear Drug Test, Tuberculosis screening and DOJ/FBI Live Scan prior to hire
- Must have obtained high school graduate or GED and have successfully passed ASAS-LA Instructional Aide exam
- Must have obtained an Associates Degree or higher, or have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with quality criteria for expanded learning programming
- Experience working in ethnic and culturally diverse communities
- Fluency in a language other than English
- A baccalaureate degree in education, social or human services, child development, recreation, or a related field
- Equivalent work experience in education, youth development, and or human services
