Job Summary
Digital Music Production Instructor leads after-school sessions focused on helping students create original music using beginner-friendly tools (BandLab, Soundtrap, GarageBand). Topics include beat-making, looping, melodies, chords, song structure, basic DAW usage, recording basics, basic mixing, and exporting finished tracks. Responsibilities include delivering structured sessions, guiding student projects, adapting to different skill levels and tech setups, fostering a positive inclusive environment, assisting with tech setup and troubleshooting, communicating session updates to staff, and supporting potential culminating showcases. Ideal for musicians, producers, and creatives who enjoy working with youth; no formal teaching experience required. Location is on-site at partner schools in Cambridge, MA, with 1–4 hours per week, ~10 weeks, rolling start dates, compensation at $50+ per instructional hour depending on experience and site.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 60 college credits (completed or in progress)
- Experience with a DAW (BandLab, Soundtrap, GarageBand, or similar)
- Experience working with students (schools, camps, tutoring, or youth programs)
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
