Job Summary
Lead after-school Digital Music Production sessions for beginner-to-intermediate students, guiding them through hands-on projects to create original music using DAWs such as BandLab, Soundtrap, or GarageBand. Teach beat-making, rhythm, looping, layering sounds, melodies, chords, song structure, and basic recording and mixing. Adapt instruction for varying skill levels and tech setups; maintain a positive, inclusive environment; support tech setup and troubleshoot logins/headphones; coordinate with program staff on attendance and updates; contribute to a culminating project or showcase when applicable. Role emphasizes project-based learning, student engagement, and collaboration with youth programs; flexible schedule (1–4 hours per week) at on-site partner school locations, with ~10-week program length. Requirements include a minimum of 60 college credits and experience with DAWs and working with students.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 60 college credits (completed or in progress)
- Experience with a DAW (BandLab, Soundtrap, GarageBand, or similar)
- Experience working with students (schools, camps, tutoring, or youth programs)
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
