Job Summary
Implements STEM-based curriculum for elementary students, including coding, robotics, engineering, science, and video game design. Creates lesson plans with teaching assistants and requests supplies from the Site Supervisor. Leads classes and supervises children during transitions while managing teaching assistants. Plans and oversees culminating events at the end of each cycle. Communicates regularly with the Site Supervisor and Director regarding student progress. Requires subject-matter expertise, a university degree (preferred), and strong leadership skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Schedules run from 2:30pm to 5:00PM when NYC public schools are in session.
Required Qualifications
- Subject-matter expertise in a field consistent with the subject taught
- Patient, kind and friendly
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and correct conduct and performance of adults and children
- Able to manage and give priority to multiple tasks
- Exhibits creativity and innovativeness working in a fast-paced environment
- Able to use own initiative, sound judgment, tact and diplomacy
