Job Summary
Implement course curriculum and assist with its development by working with teaching assistants to create lesson plans. Lead classes with school-age children in disciplines such as improv, devised playmaking, chorus, and musical theater while supervising students during transitions and teaching assistants. Requests supplies from the Site Supervisor well in advance of sessions and communicates regularly about student progress. Plans, coordinates, and oversees culminating events at the end of each cycle. Scheduled hours are from 2:30pm to 5:00PM when NYC public schools are in session.
Required Qualifications
- Subject-matter expertise in a field consistent with the subject taught
- Patient, kind and friendly
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and correct conduct and performance of adults and children
- Able to manage and give priority to multiple tasks
- Exhibits creativity and innovativeness working in a fast-paced environment
- Able to use own initiative, sound judgment, tact and diplomacy
Desired Qualifications
- University degree (preferred)
