Job Summary
Conduct small group English Language Arts tutoring for K-12 students at local shelters in Dayton, taking daily attendance and monitoring progress via mobile device. Work with approximately ten struggling students across kindergarten through twelfth grade on Mondays through Thursdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Begin promptly on September 15, 2026, and conclude by May 21, 2027, while maintaining exemplary punctuality and navigating shelter environments comfortably. Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree, one year of teaching or tutoring experience, and mastery of K-12 ELA concepts.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any field
- Demonstrated experience of at least one year in teaching or tutoring, either within a school environment or another educational setting
- Mastery of K-12 school ELA concepts and skills
- Comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, encompassing racial disparity, socio-economic disparity, and cultural disparity
- Display of genuine passion and unwavering commitment towards fostering the success of students
- Exemplary punctuality, ensuring timely attendance and adherence to established schedules
- Proficiency in communication skills
- Ability to comfortably commute to the designated location
- Ability to comfortably navigate a shelter environment, including walking through hallways, shared rooms, and stairways throughout the workday
