Job Summary
Create and implement engaging, hands-on culinary programming for elementary-aged students through 45-minute weekly cooking classes. Design progressive lessons that build skills over an 8-week quarter while teaching techniques, safety, sanitation, and cultural food traditions. Adapt recipes for allergies and dietary restrictions, maintaining a safe, inclusive environment. Manage kitchen operations by cleaning workspaces, ordering supplies, and monitoring inventory to minimize waste. Model professional behavior and supervise students closely during all food preparation activities. Submit weekly lesson plans and supply lists to the Program Manager and Operations associate in advance. Commit to working 3:30–5:30 p.m. two days per week for the first half of the program year.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary school-aged children
- Professional experience in culinary arts, cooking instruction, food service, or a related field
- Knowledge of food safety, kitchen sanitation practices, and allergy awareness
- Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact with children and colleagues from diverse cultural and social backgrounds
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Availability to work from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at least two day per week
- Availability to commit to at least the first half of the After School programmatic year, which runs from September 14th, 2026, through January 22nd, 2027 and January 25th - June 4th, 2027
