Job Summary

Lead after-school cooking classes for elementary students (K-4) while teaching nutrition basics, food safety, and cultural concepts through hands-on recipe preparation. Introduce students to cutting, measuring, and table manners while purchasing groceries for each session based on provided recipes. Manage large groups of children with effective classroom skills, ensuring engagement during one-hour daily sessions. Classes run Monday through Friday between 3-4pm at various Newport Mesa USD school sites in Costa Mesa, California. Pay ranges from $60-$70 per class, accounting for preparation and cleanup time. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess reliable transportation, and demonstrate enthusiasm for education and cooking.

Required Qualifications

  • Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire to meet school partnership regulations.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout a classroom setting during program instruction.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and kneel as needed during program setup, instruction, and cleanup.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, and transport program materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to load and unload program supplies from a vehicle, as applicable.
  • Ability to travel to assigned program locations.
  • Punctuality and reliability, with access to a reliable form of transportation.
