Job Summary
Lead hour-long cooking enrichment classes for children ages 4-18 at various San Diego locations, teaching basic kitchen skills and exploring global ingredients through hands-on recipes. Independently shop for ingredients, review recipes, and pack your Chef kit before each session. Guide students through washing, cutting, grating, stirring, measuring, and nutrition concepts while covering the history, geography, and language behind each dish. Manage and engage groups of 8-12 diverse students in a dynamic, safe environment. Commit to full sessions ranging from 6-12 weeks with availability Monday through Friday between 1:30-4 pm.
Required Qualifications
- Availability at least 2 days a week (Monday - Friday, between 1:30-4 pm)
- Commitment to teaching full sessions (ranging from 6-12 weeks)
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification (can obtain before teaching)
- Ability to manage and engage a group of 8-12 children with diverse backgrounds and academic levels
- Upon hire, employees will be required to pass a fingerprint background check
- Access to reliable transportation
- Ability to communicate with our team in a timely manner
- Punctual and reliable
Desired Qualifications
- No professional cooking experience required
- Experience working with kids of varying ages is a huge plus!
