Job Summary
Create and implement engaging, skill-building chess programming for elementary-aged students, fostering strategic thinking and sportsmanship through guided games, puzzles, and partner activities. Develop progressive 45-minute weekly classes for groups of up to 18 students, differentiating instruction to support varying levels of experience and neurodivergent needs. Submit weekly lesson plans, maintain organized classroom logistics, and communicate regularly with the Program Manager regarding student progress and material needs. Model professional behavior and restorative supervision while working from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at least one day per week. Commit to the first half of the programmatic year, running from September 14th, 2026, through January 22nd, 2027.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary school-aged children
- Availability to work from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at least one day per week
- Availability to commit to at least the first half of the After School programmatic year, which runs from September 14th, 2026, through January 22nd, 2027 and January 25th - June 4th, 2027
- Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact with children and colleagues from diverse cultural and social backgrounds
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching chess classes, coaching chess, or leading youth chess programs
