Job Summary
Submit weekly lesson plans and supply lists to the Program Manager. Develop and facilitate engaging 45-minute weekly art classes for groups of up to 18 K-5 students, organizing instruction by age and inclusive needs. Teach visual art techniques including drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media while designing progressive 8-week projects that encourage self-expression and creative problem-solving. Maintain a clean, organized classroom and manage art supply inventory within budget constraints. Model professional behavior and supervise students to ensure a safe, supportive environment. Incorporate seasonal themes rooted in Jewish sensibilities into projects as appropriate. Commit to working from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at least two days per week for the first half of the programmatic year.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary school-aged children
- Professional experience in visual arts, art education, fine arts, design, illustration, crafting, or a related field
- Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact with children and colleagues from diverse cultural and social backgrounds
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Availability to work from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at least two days per week
- Availability to commit to at least the first half of the After School programmatic year, which runs from September 14th, 2026, through January 22nd , 2027 and January 25th - June 4th, 2027
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching art classes or leading creative arts programs for children is preferred
