Job Summary
AF105W-A Writing for University (Fall 2026) teaches writing across the disciplines in the Social Sciences and Humanities. The instructor will oversee 1.5 hours of lecture and 1.5 hours of tutorial weekly, supervise initial training of Instructional Assistants on lesson planning and delivery, provide effective feedback on written work using rubrics, and help students develop descriptive and evaluative writing, including summarizing, paraphrasing, and developing arguments. The course also addresses the use of artificial intelligence in university education and writing today, with numerous low-stakes writing assignments to build foundational skills. The appointment follows the Contract Teaching Faculty/Part-time Librarians Collective Agreement and requires an electronic application via CAF/CV with supporting documents; emphasis is placed on teaching effectiveness and evidence of good teaching. Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Humanities, Social Sciences or Education
- Preference for a teaching dossier with evidence of training and/or teaching experience in core academic competencies (reading, writing, research, oral presentation)
