Job Summary

Assist students with direct care tasks including toileting, grooming, feeding, and hygiene needs while supporting daily living activities in a school setting. Provide physical assistance with transfers, wheelchair management, and equipment operation. Monitor medical conditions, implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP) components, and facilitate participation in classroom instruction, therapy sessions, and extracurricular activities. Maintain orderly behavior, cue appropriate responses, and collect data for behavior charts and progress monitoring. Communicate with families, teachers, and administration regarding student needs, ensuring strict adherence to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries. Accompany students during arrivals, dismissals, field trips, and transitions. Report significant changes in patient condition to the supervisor and complete all required documentation records.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate, GED or equivalent of education and training
  • Registration or Certification as required by state law and regulation
  • Current CPR certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with aide care and policies and procedures
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English
  • Must be able to travel to/from school/job location on a consistent and timely basis
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must have visual and hearing acuity
  • Must have strong sense of smell and touch
  • Must be able to sufficiently reposition students and move equipment without assistance
  • Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to safely operate equipment, including grasping and manipulating small objects
  • Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations
  • Must be able and willing to wear personal protective equipment as needed
  • Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids and infectious diseases

Desired Qualifications

  • Pediatric and adult experience as appropriate for the patient
