Job Summary
Assist students with direct care tasks including toileting, hygiene, feeding, and mobility transfers while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries. Support instructional activities by prompting seatwork, reviewing assignments, and implementing Individual Education Plan components like behavior support plans. Collaborate with teachers to maintain classroom order, manage transitions, and communicate with families regarding student progress. Complete daily documentation such as behavior charts, progress logs, and IEP referrals, and report significant changes in patient condition to the supervisor. Accompany students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and field trips as required by their IEP.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate, GED or equivalent of education and training
- Registration or Certification as required by state law and regulation
- Current CPR certification
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with aide care and policies and procedures
- Basic computer skills
- Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English
- Must be able to travel to/from school/job location on a consistent and timely basis
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must have visual and hearing acuity
- Must have strong sense of smell and touch
- Must be able to sufficiently reposition students and move equipment without assistance
- Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to safely operate equipment, including grasping and manipulating small objects
- Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations
- Must be able and willing to wear personal protective equipment as needed
- Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
- Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids and infectious diseases
- Required vaccinations and testing

- Pediatric and adult experience as appropriate for the patient
