Job Summary
Manage aerostat flight operations including pre-launch, ascent, station keeping, and recovery while performing recurring maintenance on aerostat structures, radar systems, and ground equipment like generators and communication networks. Execute test steps, collect results, and calibrate site and test equipment as required. Operate general purpose and special purpose vehicles including man lifts to heights of 150 feet, perform helium toppings and tether inspections, and troubleshoot avionics, hydraulic systems, and fiber optic components. Maintain site documentation, parts requests, and flight logs while adhering to emergency procedures for moored and airborne flight operations. Work in a 24/7 shift scenario across multiple operational sites in Rio Grande Valley, Texas.
Required Qualifications
- GED or High School Diploma
- 2 years of formal technical training (via military or civilian technical schools)
- Associate and Bachelor of Science degree in any technical discipline
- 2 years of industry experience in one of the following: Electrical Maintenance with qualification at the 10 and 20 series or greater level from Army MOS or other military branch equivalent or industry occupational specialties
- 2 years of industry experience in one of the following: IT with qualifications at the 10 or 20 series or greater level from Army MOS or other military branch equivalent or industry occupational specialties as a Network Installation or CISCO Network Administrator
- 2 years of industry experience in one of the following: Mechanical Maintenance with qualifications at the 10 or 20 series or greater level from Army MOS or other military branch equivalent or industry occupational specialties as a National Institute for ASE Certified Truck Mechanic or FAA General Mechanic 1 or greater
- Must pass the Aerostat basic training course for continued employment
- Valid U.S. Driver's license
- Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English fluently
- Must be willing to work in a 24/7 shift scenario, be assigned to various shifts as required to meet mission requirements, and while rare, temporary assignment to other locations is possible
- Proof of U.S. residency
- Ability to carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders
- Successfully completed Background Investigation with a Favorable Suitability Determination, and issuance of DHS Suitability determination
