Job Summary
Design primary structures, load paths, and internal supports while leading mass reduction efforts and selecting materials like composites and thermal barrier systems. Perform structural and thermal analyses using ANSYS to validate hardware survival in flight environments, then develop qualification test plans covering vibration and environmental testing. Collaborate with vehicle design, GNC, and manufacturing teams to deliver integrated, flight-ready hardware, while supporting supplier selection and production planning. Participate in design reviews, anomaly investigations, and post-flight assessments for next-generation spacecraft. This role offers direct ownership of structural and thermal design end-to-end at a company pioneering space manufacturing and drug discovery.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in aerospace structures and thermal engineering
- Hands-on experience with structural and thermal analysis including FEA and thermal modeling
- Experience selecting and working with aerospace materials including composites and high-temperature systems
- Experience developing and executing qualification and environmental test plans
- Comfort working across disciplines in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with flight-certified hardware that has flown on actual missions
- Background in thermal protection systems or ablative materials
- Experience supporting launch campaigns and post-flight analysis
