Job Summary
Perform detailed analysis of primary and secondary airframe structures for new designs and major modifications, ensuring compliance with structural engineering specifications. Develop finite element models based on new and reverse engineering requirements, while creating stress analysis tools and methodologies. Interrogate CAD models using CATIA, NX, or similar systems, and coordinate with technical disciplines to keep deliverables on target. Provide onsite support for modification implementation and flight test activities, including production MRB oversight. Execute this work using NASTRAN, PATRAN, or FEMAP toolsets while adhering to FAR Part 23 and 25 certification standards. Travel 25% internationally and domestically for worksites, requiring a personal vehicle and clean driving record.
Required Qualifications
- B.S., in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
- Five or more years of relevant experience in performing structural analysis in Primary and Secondary structure (metallic and composite)
- Knowledge in Fuselage and Wing analysis along with system installation
- Proficiency with NASTRAN/PATRAN and/or FEMAP toolsets to run FEM simulations
- Proficiency with CATIA V6 & V5 and/or NX CAD to interrogate both 3D and 2D data
- Knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the structural design
- Familiarity with FAR Part 23 and Part 25 certification requirements and processes
- State drivers license and clean driving record required
- Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Travel 25% (flying and driving) to various international and domestic worksites may be required
- Driving personal vehicle for errands required
