Job Summary
Provide technical support for Army Futures Command and the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Division regarding aviation maintenance engineering solutions for US Army rotary aircraft or uncrewed aerial vehicles. Deliver expert advice, analysis, research, and guidance while maintaining knowledge of scientific principles, maintenance policies, and depot repair procedures. Draft revised maintenance manual procedures and produce detailed technical substantiation analyses, reports, and briefings. Interpret engineering drawings and repair manuals to support engineering dispositions and technical requirements. Perform problem-solving and critical thinking to transform concepts into functional repairs, utilizing analytical skills to evaluate engineering plans and procedures. Maintain proficiency in MS Office and related software programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science, or greater, in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field
- Experience with overhaul of dynamic components including drive, rotor, or propulsion systems
- Demonstrated experience using problem-solving and critical thinking skills to transform concepts into functional repairs
- Experienced in applying analytical skills to support and evaluate engineering dispositions, policies, plans, procedures, and technical requirements
- Provide technical support for drafting new or revised maintenance manual procedures and processes
- Proficient in writing detailed technical substantiation analyses, reports, and briefings
- Knowledge and experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, repair manuals, and technical reports
- Possess strong listening, written, and oral communication skills
- Competence in MS Office and related software/programs
- Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Required Travel: 11 - 25%
- All candidates will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and drug screening per HII requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred: 14 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; 12 years of experience with a Masters; 10 years of experience with a Ph.D. or Juris Doctorate
- Greater than 20+ years of relevant experience with DoD aviation maintenance airworthiness
- Advanced Manufacturing and Additive Manufacturing experience
- Stress Analysis and Finite Element Analysis experience
- Experience with overhaul of rotary wing aircraft or Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles
- Military Aviation Depot, Intermediate, or Organizational Level maintenance repair experience
- Security Clearance: Possess an active Department of Defense Security Clearance
