Job Summary
As an Aerodynamics Testing Engineer at Harmattan AI, you will validate the flight physics of UAV platforms, design and execute experimental campaigns, and bridge the gap between theoretical simulations and real-world performance. Responsibilities include rapid airframe fabrication, leading flight test campaigns, executing wind tunnel and ground testing, correlating simulation data with experimental results, and analyzing flight logs. Required qualifications include a B.S. or M.S. in relevant engineering fields, hands-on prototyping experience, extensive background in aerodynamics experiments, and proficiency in several software tools including Python and CAD applications.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on experimental fluid dynamics or flight testing.
- Hands-on experience with CNC hot-wire foam cutting, 3D printing, CNC routing and/or composites.
- Extensive background in planning and executing aerodynamic experiments.
- Expert in Python (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas) for processing large-scale experimental datasets and automated report generation.
- Proficiency with Matplotlib, Plotly, or Seaborn for aerodynamic data visualization.
- Experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB/Simulink, or Python-based hardware interfacing (e.g., PyVISA, nidaqmx, pyserial).
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks or CATIA for the design of complex test benches and wind tunnel fixtures.
Desired Qualifications
- Pilot Experience: Radio Control (RC) flight experience.
- Knowledge of Machine Learning or Reduced Order Models (ROMs) for the creation of Aerodynamic Databases
- Experience with Aerodynamic system identification techniques to validate aircraft performance models using flight data.
