Aerial Mapping Technician

Job Summary
Process data from aerial mapping and LiDAR scans to develop topographic data using specialized photogrammetry or LiDAR software. Perform classification, feature extraction, and manual edits on LiDAR point clouds, then compile Digital Terrain Models from stereo photography in a visual 3D environment. Assist in final QA/QC of data deliverables while researching previous maps and records to obtain necessary project data. Analyze data to prepare reports and maps with precision and accuracy, ensuring compliance with company standards and professional client interactions. Requires a driver's license, ability to sit for extended periods, and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, TopoDOT, or Terrasolid.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of High School Diploma
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study
- 1+ years of experience processing aerial/LiDAR data
- 1+ year of experience working with GIS, CAD, or common LiDAR processing tools
- Driver's license
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability to sit for long periods of time, which could be in excess of 8 hours in a single day
- Ability to see details of an object from a distance and close-up
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple to complex correspondences
- Ability to effectively present information
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to interpret and manipulate simple to complex computer software programs
- Ability to operate for production activities one or more of the following software platforms; AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, TopoDOT, or Terrasolid
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit number and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
- Ability to perform these operations using unity of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
- Ability to take and understand measurements
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple to complex instructions
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
