Advocate - Survivor

Job Summary
Conduct crisis intervention, intakes, and needs assessments for shelter survivors while creating service plans and facilitating life skills education. Perform individual and group case management, document resident files per DVIS guidelines, and transport callers in imminent danger to the Shelter. Act as an advocate with external agencies, organize supportive activities, and provide coverage for the Safe Housing on-call rotation. Collaborate with DVIS departments and federal, state, and local agencies to meet survivor needs. Maintain confidentiality and safeguard proprietary information while interacting with staff, external organizations, and the public.
Required Qualifications
- 4-year degree
- Valid Oklahoma driver's license
- Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational skills
- Written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize work and tasks
- Adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-tasked and changing environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Outstanding communicator
- Ability to handle sensitive information with diplomacy
- Ability to communicate and understand in English effectively, in person, and in writing
- Ability to hear adequately in person and by phone, in personal and group settings, and function with periodic distractions
- Ability to work with, and process information from, a variety of individuals and media
- Mobility necessary to access various offices and a wide variety of settings
- Mobility necessary to perform a variety of tasks that involve intermittent standing, walking/traversing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, and twisting
- Ability to reach for, move and/or lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Ability to perform frequent repetitive movement such as extended periods of keyboarding
- 1-year of supervised experience working with individuals and groups in a social service or mental health environment
- Schedule Availability: Monday through Friday with some evenings and weekends and on-call rotation
Desired Qualifications
- In pursuit of a Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or in a related field
- Experience working in a nonprofit
- Experience, lived experience, and/or special skills (equivalent to 1-year experience)
- Knowledge of or experience working with social justice issues, specifically intimate partner, and gender-based violence, post-traumatic stress, rape trauma, mental health, substance abuse, and racial, class, gender, and sexual orientation issues
- Spanish bilingual
- Database experience
- Good negotiation skills
- Ability to apply an equitable analysis to all duties to achieve organizational goals and demonstrate the DVIS' commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and anti-racism
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
