Job Summary
The Advocate provides trauma-informed direct client services, crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy for survivors of domestic abuse, trafficking, and harassment. Responsibilities include safety planning, connecting clients with housing, financial assistance, legal advocacy, mental health services, accompanying clients to court hearings and medical appointments, assisting with protection orders and Crime Victim Compensation, and maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality. The role involves in-home/mobile advocacy as appropriate, ensuring a minimum of 60% direct service hours monthly, participating in on-call crisis responses, and engaging in community outreach, public awareness, and education to strengthen partnerships. Training and development are required, including mandatory victim counselor training within 30 days of hire and ongoing certifications; travel is required for client support, outreach, and training; the position emphasizes public speaking, collaboration with referral agencies, and adherence to agency policies and confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human service related field or equivalent professional and personal experience
- Experience in crisis intervention, victim advocacy, or case management preferred
- Must complete mandatory victim advocate training within 30 days of employment and fulfill on-going certification requirements
- Willingness to travel frequently for client support, outreach, and training
- Must pass all required background checks, including Criminal and child/dependent adult abuse background checks and Sex Offender Registry clearance
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and adequate motor vehicle insurance
