Job Summary
Build trusting, trauma-informed relationships with youth impacted by commercial sexual exploitation, trafficking, and placement instability across community settings, homes, schools, hospitals, and court environments. Provide short-term and long-term advocacy, crisis intervention, and case management to support safety planning, stabilization, and access to housing, education, healthcare, and legal resources. Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, attend Child and Family Team meetings, and assist youth in developing life skills and resilience. Maintain accurate documentation including advocacy progress notes, safety plans, and incident logs while adhering to mandatory reporting laws and licensing standards. Provide flexible coverage within the Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program as needed to ensure continuity of care.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Child Development, Sociology, or a related behavioral health field
- Minimum one (1) year of case management, advocacy, or direct service experience working with at-risk, high-risk, or system-involved youth
- Valid California Driver's License
- Reliable transportation
- Acceptable driving record
- CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain
- Ability to pass background clearance
- Ability to pass TB test
- Ability to pass physical exam
- Ability to pass drug screening
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate daily behavior
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate expression of emotions
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate role modeling
- Ability to comply with occupational safety and health standards
- Ability to comply with all organizational wide policies and procedures
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of client and case information
- Ability to adjust to climate, outdoor and indoor conditions such as extreme heat, humidity and cold weather
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Ability to utilize fingers, hands and arms up to 2/3 of the day
- Ability to lift items and assist clients with lifting items up to 25 pounds 1/3 of the day
- Clear close and distance vision and ability to adjust the focus
- Ability to operate a vehicle and recognize all street signs
- Ability to speak and listen to others in person and over the phone and video conferencing
- Ability to use keyboard and read from computer screen
- Ability to bend, stoop, filing and lifting of files
- Ability to work flexible and non-traditional hours as needed
- Ability to work independently in community settings and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to complete all mandatory trainings and in-service education requirements
- Ability to demonstrate openness to feedback, coaching, and continued professional growth
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, Community Care Licensing (CCL), and agency policies
- Ability to adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and licensing requirements
- Ability to adhere to mandated reporting laws and agency policies at all times
- Ability to respond appropriately to critical incidents and follow all reporting requirements and agency protocols
- Ability to maintain flexibility to support evenings, weekends, and urgent youth needs when required
- Ability to maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, multidisciplinary teams, DCFS, DMH, schools, probation, and community providers
- Ability to report significant incidents, concerns, and safety issues in a timely manner
- Ability to participate in required supervision, staff meetings, and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to support a trauma-informed, survivor-centered, harm-reduction, and healing-centered model of care
- Ability to function effectively with children, adolescents and adults who may have mental or behavioral problems
- Ability to be emotionally stable
- Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including the use of a computer
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with youth impacted by trauma, exploitation, foster care involvement, or behavioral health challenges
- Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and harm-reduction practices
- Knowledge of DCFS, Probation, mental health, educational, and juvenile court systems
- Bilingual English/Spanish
