Job Summary
Advocacy Specialist providing information and referral, advocacy, independent living skills training, and peer support to people with disabilities to help achieve independent living goals. Responsibilities include community outreach, facilitating classes/workshops, maintaining consumer records, data entry for compliance, and assisting with developing Independent Living Plans. Requires strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook), English proficiency, ability to travel to meet consumers offsite, and a valid PA driver’s license with a good driving record; must obtain required certifications and state/federal clearances. Location: Reading, PA; in-person role with travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of experience working with people with disabilities
- Valid PA driver’s license and good driving record
- Willingness to travel to meet with consumers and attend offsite meetings
- Must successfully complete PA State Police and Child Abuse Clearances and FBI clearance check
- Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Able to read/write/speak English clearly
- Team player with attention to detail
- Reliable transportation
- Willingness to obtain certifications as required for professional development
