Job Summary
Lead advocacy, civic engagement, and public policy initiatives by prospecting, writing, and managing grant proposals for local, state, and federal government entities. Build networks of engaged community members, design engagement pathways, and advance systems improvements while tracking legislation and coordinating public testimony. Manage the full grant lifecycle from drafting narratives and budgets to submitting applications via portals and monitoring reporting deadlines. Collaborate with program and finance staff to collect statistics and personal stories, maintain grant libraries, and facilitate contract agreements. Ensure all advocacy work adheres to governmental regulations and communicate deadlines effectively to cross-sector stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Social Work, Public Health, Political Science, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in advocacy, community engagement, public policy, or coalition building
- Experience developing community leaders and advancing initiatives that result in systems or policy change
- At least 3 years of professional government and foundation grant writing experience
- Exceptional professional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and establish realistic timelines and work independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including federal, state and local funders, staff, and general public
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to handle confidential information

- Requires travelling on occasion as needed between SAAF campuses and other locations
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of public funding sources for HIV/AIDS support services, prevention programs, LGBTQ program and services, medical services and other related social services
- Excellent speaking and public presentation abilities
- Knowledge and application of best practices in grantmaking
- Proven abilities in analysis, database management, and data reporting
- Spanish language fluency
