Job Summary
Advisor, New Business Development provides expert advisory support to the VP on identifying, evaluating, and pursuing new business opportunities, including farm-in/out, mergers and acquisitions, and divestments. Responsible for advising on strategic fit, commercial viability, risk, market trends, and potential partnerships, while supporting development of business strategies, investment proposals, and due diligence. Travel is frequent; role involves mentoring team members and representing the organization in discussions with potential partners, investors, government entities, and industry stakeholders. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 14+ years in Oil & Gas, strong financial modeling and negotiation skills, and proficiency in upstream commercial transactions (EPSAs, JOAs, farm-in/out). Notable interactions include internal BD, Legal, Finance, Subsurface, and external investment banks and government entities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
- Preferred postgraduate qualification (Master's, MBA, or PhD)
- Minimum of 14+ years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry with investments, exploration, development, and production
- Strong experience >10 years in investment analysis, corporate finance, business development, or commercial roles (M&A, portfolio assessment) within oil & gas or energy
- Experience in resource control, contract management, and commercial processes
- Strong financial modeling and petroleum economics valuation skills
- Upstream commercial agreements (EPSAs, JOAs, farm-in/farm-out)
- Due diligence processes and risk assessment
- Market and competitor analysis
- Negotiation and deal structuring
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Ability to engage senior leadership and external stakeholders
- MS Office (advanced Excel and PowerPoint)
