Job Summary
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Career Center by meeting and assisting students, parents, and staff regarding college applications, financial aid, and scholarship information. Conduct annual online career inventories for eighth and high school students, help complete FAFSA and scholarship applications, and maintain current college resources and supplies. Assist with the annual Career Fair, schedule college visitations, and prepare materials for advisory clusters while attending meetings with ACC and other organizations. Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends to ensure the center remains available, maintain all pertinent records, and ensure confidentiality in compliance with state and district policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Working knowledge of computer operations
- Proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenance
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Basic math skills
- Awareness and ability to access resources
- Three to four (3-4) years of related work experience, preferably in a public education environment
- Work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, so that the Career Center is open and available for students and parents
- Ensure confidentiality at all times
- Keep informed of and comply with all state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions
- Articulate the district's mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission
- Project a positive image to the school and the community
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment up to 50 pounds
