Job Summary
Advanced Solar Field Service Technician (Operations and Maintenance) responsible for the O&M of solar power plants near San Jose, CA. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance per established standards, document work orders and logs, troubleshoot electrical components with tools (multimeters, meggers, amp clamps), test solar equipment, and ensure proper operation. Maintain a strong safety focus with LOTO and JHA, work solo or in teams, and may travel up to 25% with a company vehicle provided. Site-based role requiring residence within ~50 miles of San Jose; travel-dependent site support and ongoing documentation and safety compliance.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience in Commercial/Industrial O&M on solar power plants (preferred)
- Strong safety background with experience in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical components with testing tools (digital multi-meters, megger, amp clamps)
- Experience with Solar Utility equipment (inverters, tracker systems, sub-stations) is preferred
- Ability to operate safely and legally a motor vehicle; willing to travel up to 25%
- Ability to train, mentor, and develop laborers into Apprentices
- Comfort working both solo and in a group environment
- Lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
- Work outdoors in varying temperatures
