Job Summary
Provide direct security and related public services, including visible deterrence of crime and suspicious activity in buildings, grounds, parking areas, and patient treatment zones. Respond quickly to emergency and non-emergency situations through verbal intervention, crisis management, and physical restraint when necessary. Escort persons and assist client personnel while maintaining vigilance for potential injury or property damage. Write accurate reports, enforce client policies, and safely handle firearms and TASER devices in accordance with company guidelines. Maintain positive relationships with co-workers, client staff, and the public while performing other duties as assigned by leadership.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- College degree in criminal justice or security discipline
- Successful completion of police academy
- Experience in Military Police
- Experience as a Correctional Officer
- Experience in Law Enforcement
- Previous experience working with the public in a service setting
- IAHSS Basic Officer certification
- IAHSS Advanced Officer certification
- IAHSS Supervisor certification
- Completion of IAHSS certifications within 1 year of assignment
- Ability to obtain and maintain any applicable jurisdictional security license(s) or certifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain any applicable jurisdictional armed security license(s) or certifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain any applicable local or state license or permit to carry a TASER
- Ability to meet qualification standards when initially placed in a TASER position and annually thereafter
- Ability to participate in and pass additional TASER training
- Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of the HSS a Tarian company's Conducted Energy Weapon (Taser) policy
- Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of the HSS a Tarian company's Taser Policy
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to meet HSS a Tarian company's driving guidelines
- Ability to work, interact and communicate effectively with diverse people
- Ability to comprehend and execute written or verbal instructions
- Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English language proficiently
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Proficiency in basic computer skills such as MS Word, Excel and email
- Ability to learn other programs such as security incident management software and/or client specific software
- Ability to maintain regular attendance in accordance with HSS a Tarian company's attendance policy
- Ability to meet physical demands including sitting, standing, and walking for variable amounts of time
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects 25 pounds or more

Desired Qualifications
- Prefer college degree in criminal justice or security discipline or successful completion of police academy or experience in one of the following areas: Military Police, Correctional Officer, Law Enforcement
- Prefer previous experience working with the public in a service setting
- IAHSS Basic Officer, Advanced Officer and Supervisor Certifications preferred
