Job Summary
Respond to urgent referrals outside normal hours, delivering timely crisis interventions for vulnerable individuals across Children's and Adult Social Care services. Conduct risk assessments and safeguarding checks to ensure the safety of children, young people, and adults in complex, high-pressure situations. Maintain high-quality case recordings and apply relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Care Act 2014, while collaborating with multi-agency partners to reduce risk. Work independently in an out-of-hours setting, managing competing demands with sound professional judgement.
Required Qualifications
- MA, BA or BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW
- Registration with Social Work England
- Minimum of 2+ years' post-qualified experience (ASYE completed)
- Strong experience within Child Protection and/or Adult Safeguarding
- Experience of working within crisis or emergency social work settings
- Proven ability to manage complex cases and make informed decisions under pressure
- Experience in risk assessment, safeguarding and multi-agency working
- Ability to work across both Children's and Adult Services
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Strong working knowledge of Children Act 1989
- Strong working knowledge of Care Act 2014
- Strong working knowledge of Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA)
- Strong working knowledge of Safeguarding Children and Adults frameworks and procedures
- Excellent safeguarding knowledge and advanced practice skills
- Strong assessment and analytical abilities
- Ability to make sound decisions in complex and high-pressure environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive working relationships with service users and professionals
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands
- High standard of written work and case recording
- Resilient, proactive and able to work independently in an out-of-hours setting
- Commitment to strengths-based and person-centred practice
- Flexibility to work evenings, overnight shifts, weekends and bank holidays
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Strong background in Child Protection
- Experience of working within crisis or emergency social work settings is highly desirable
- Training can be provided to support transition into Adult Social Care where required
- Ability to work across both Children's and Adult Services (training can be provided if required)
