Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Student, CNS Track in Trauma Services outlines an RN-level role within the OU Health Advanced Practice Provider program. It emphasizes pursuing a Master’s Degree in Nursing (Clinical Nurse Specialist track) and gaining exposure to CNS practice, multidisciplinary teams, and leadership opportunities. Responsibilities include acting as a learning clinical expert in evidence-based practice, supporting nursing research, designing and evaluating care programs for a designated patient population, providing leadership to advance nursing practice, collaborating with the care team, and serving as a change agent through coaching and participation in committees and projects across the system.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Currently enrolled and completing requirements for a Master’s Degree in Nursing, Clinical Nurse Specialist program
- 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Patient Care
- Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)
- Certification opportunity: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse within 90 days of graduation (as applicable)
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification upon hire
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and procedures
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
