Job Summary
Advanced Practice Student, CNS Track in Periop Services within the OU Health Clinical Nurse Specialist Intern Program. The role targets students completing a Master’s Degree in Nursing in a Clinical Nurse Specialist track and offers exposure to clinical areas and multidisciplinary teams, aiming to prepare for a traditional Clinical Nurse Specialist role. Responsibilities include practicing as a learning clinical expert in evidence-based nursing within a specific patient population, supporting nursing research, designing and evaluating patient- or population-based care programs with the care team, providing leadership to advance nursing practice in the student role, developing innovative solutions to system problems, and acting as a change agent through coaching and participation in committees and projects system-wide.
Required Qualifications
- Education Requirements Bachelor's of Science in Nursing required
- Currently enrolled and completing requirements through an approved school of nursing for a Master’s Degree in Nursing, Clinical Nurse Specialist program
- Experience Requirements 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Patient Care
- License/Certification/Registration Requirements Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)
- Upon graduation, certification recognized by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing to be licensed as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse must be acquired within 90 days
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire
- Knowledge/Skills/Ability Requirements Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures; ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services; effective communication and cultural-linguistic responsiveness; proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
